“I’ve used the item less frequently as when I first got it because it isn’t as plausible to use for larger spaces. The machine’s no-nonsense control panel lets you easily toggle between modes and monitor the battery life. Of all the vacuums we tested, this one was the quickest to achieve a full charge, at just a little over two hours (half the time of other models on this list). While the SpinWave features dry-tank technology for easy emptying and cleaning out, it should be noted that it doesn’t include a self-cleaning mode.
During our testing, we were truly impressed with the machine’s suction, four-way swivel and maneuverability. While vacuuming, we noticed the machine had better reach of dirt and debris along corners and edges without the pads. And because of its rounded head, you have to have the machine face the edge instead of running alongside it. With the pads on, the machine tended to bounce away from walls and wasn’t as effective at reaching corners. However, this wasn’t an issue for us since the maneuverability was so impressive and seamless!

With a dual tank system and washable filters for delivering clean water with every pass, the Hoover Streamline features an impressive Boost mode for tackling more stubborn messes as you go. An intuitive LCD screen and LED headlights easily make this the best vacuum-mop combo out of all corded models our team tested.
As one of our favorite vacuum brands, the Hoover did not disappoint during performance testing. We especially loved the Streamline’s edge-to-edge cleaning, noting that it effectively picked up all dirt and debris, including what was hidden in tight corners. While the auto mode was effective at handling messes, we enjoyed the convenience of the trigger button for manually dispensing more solution on demand as needed.
The vacuum did a great job picking up messes and the machine itself was notably clean immediately after use. However, the Streamline does include a self-cleaning mode, but we found it left a sizable amount of soapy water in the docking tray after completing the cleaning cycle that we had to dump into the sink.
It should be noted that the Hoover Streamline doesn’t include a warranty, but you can purchase product protection.
Other vacuum-mop combos we tested
- Roborock Dryad: We found this to be the most user-friendly vacuum-mop combo thanks to its intuitive interface, voice prompts and user-friendly app control. Unfortunately this model is currently out of stock but we hope to see it back soon.
- Shark Hydrovac: While we normally love Shark vacuums, our testers found that this vacuum-mop combo missed the mark. During testing, this unit left a considerable amount of debris behind. During the cleaning process, our team found a lot of debris crammed behind the roller inside the head and had to run the self-clean function multiple times.
- Dyson V15s Detect Submarine: We had high hopes for this machine thanks to its lightweight design, slick LCD screen and large collection bin. Unfortunately it left a lot to be desired. During testing, it performed so poorly with the dirt our testers had scattered on the floor that our team didn’t feel comfortable using it on the food-based messes. They also experienced leakage and didn’t like the fact that it cannot stand upright.
Why you should choose a vacuum-mop combo
According to experts, you should mop your floors at least once a week. “You may have to do it more often if you have a pet that sheds,” says Leslie Reichert, a cleaning consultant and green cleaning expert. “If you clean weekly, the grime doesn’t have the chance to build up, and cleaning isn’t such a chore.” However, if that’s a three-step process involving sweeping, vacuuming and then mopping, who really has the time?
Many of the best models on the market come with separate water tanks, LED lights for visibility, swivel heads and excellent maneuverability. All in all, these are effective tools for cleaning the entire floor in minutes for squeaky clean results.
What to look for when buying a vacuum-mop combo
The best vacuum-mop combo saves you time and effort and leaves your floors cleaner than a standard mop. Many vacuum-mop combos, on the other hand, have two tanks: one that you fill with clean water and one to suck up and hold the dirty water, dirt, hair and debris. Lowe’s Store Manager Brian Shaunfield notes that these are the features he recommends looking for:
- Safe for all floors: “You never want to worry about damaging your kitchen or living room floors, so almost all vacuum mops specify that they are safe for tile, sealed wood floors, laminate, linoleum, rubber floor mats, pressed wood floors, area rugs and more.”
- Self-cleaning capabilities: “The best part of a vacuum mop is its deep-cleaning abilities, and a durable vacuum mop will come equipped with its own self-cleaning (and sometimes drying) features.”
- Lightweight and flexible design: “All vacuum mops should be effortless to carry and easy to maneuver around tight corners and bulky furniture, somewhere between 8 and 11 pounds. The true testament to a good vacuum mop is its ability to clean every nook without overexerting yourself in the process.”
Before investing in a vacuum-mop combo, here are a few important things to keep in mind:
- Flooring type: Most vacuum-mop combos, such as tile and hardwood, are made for sealed floors. However, some also work on rugs and carpets. “You want to be very careful on the hardwood so that you don’t miss a small piece of dirt, and it ends up scratching the wood,” Reichert says. Consider the most common flooring type in your home (or the flooring type of the area that needs to be cleaned the most) when weighing the pros and cons of each model.
- Power source: Some of the vacuum mops we’ve included on our list are corded, and some are battery-operated models. The power source you choose really comes down to personal preference. Decide between needing to unplug and replug the vacuum as you move around your house or pausing to let the battery recharge.
- Bonus features and attachments: Vacuum-mop combos have everything from self-cleaning docks to different cleaning modes to special filters. Sometimes the added features that make cleaning easier are worth the higher price tag.
